When my husband and I took our kids to the Turks & Caicos for a week, we split our time between the Gansevoort Hotel (3 nights) and the Grace Bay Club (4 nights). Both hotels are right on the beach – you can’t go wrong with either one!
The Grace Bay Club offers many activities for kids and grownups. While Keith and I lounged on the beach, our kids took full advantage of all that the resort had to offer: beach volleyball, tennis courts, bicycles, and of course jumping in the waves all day long! At 5 and 8 years old, respectively, they felt safe enough to venture throughout the resort on their own, and soon got to know all of the staff, who nicknamed them “the Olympians” – because they were always on the hunt for athletic activities!
We appreciated that the concierge was knowledgeable and willing to help us book excursions and experiences throughout the island. Of the hundreds of options they offered, we ended up booking a snorkeling expedition on a boat, water-sports (parasailing and tubing), and a stand-up-paddle eco-tour. Sprinkling those adventures throughout our vacation made us feel that we really got to experience the island, rather than staying put at the resort all week long. One bit of advice if you’re planning to have an active vacation like we did: don’t forget to pack accordingly! You’ll need rash-guards, swimsuits & sunglasses that stay put, waterproof sunscreen, and hats or visors! Check the shopping widget below for suggestions…
Our “room” at Grace Bay was absolutely gorgeous. At over 1000 sqft, it was larger than many New York apartments! We felt totally comfortable with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a great room facing the ocean, a large kitchen with an island, our own washer dryer, and an enormous balcony overlooking the beach. It was wonderful to leave the windows open, close the screens, and fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves.
The restaurants on-site were delicious. The Grill offered casual pool-side dining and Infiniti was perfect for dinner by the ocean. We enjoyed cocktails near the fire-pit during sunset and loved the DJ on Friday night.
Last but not least, we were happy to find out that Kids Town, Grace Bay’s kids-club, offered activities for children 5 and up. Although the kids ended up playing on their own for the majority of our stay, having the option to drop them off if needed was a wonderful feeling!
