It’s tough to dress for spring in NYC! One day you get a nor’easter; and the next, the sun comes out to say hello. It’s not quite warm yet, but you really want to put away your winter coat and your snow boots. What to wear in early spring is a question I struggle with every year!
The first thing I like to do when spring comes out and says hello is ditch my big fluffy coat! This little leather jacket by IRO is the best investment piece ever. It’s not bulky and it’s not tight – it’s simply perfect to wear over a thin cashmere sweater or a long sleeve t-shirt. I’m petite (5’2) but I have pretty wide shoulders, and I find that the 38 is the right size for me. I love that it’s not black. The light gray makes it different, and just perfect for spring. They also make it in beige, absolutely gorgeous for this time of year.
Pair it with a pair of jeans (either dark blue or black works really well) and some beautiful suede boots. The boots that Rag & Bone makes are high enough to give height, but they’re comfy enough for a day on your feet, running from lunch, to errands, to school pickup, and beyond.
Here’s to hoping that the sun will come out every day from now on and that snow days are behind us! Welcome spring… we are ready for you!
