Every year, I really look forward to Easter! Easter brings the promise of sunny spring days, candy colored clothes and blooms in every park all over New York City.
I would love to wear a sundress to celebrate the change of seasons, but let’s face it – in New York, especially when Easter comes early, it could be 45 degrees! So I always plan to wear pants and a sweater, and also, most years, a light jacket. As long as the colors are cheerful, it makes for an outfit that’s appropriate for the occasion and for the weather as well.
I love to have my daughter match me on special holidays and family occasions. White jeans and cable-knit sweaters work well for little girls and grown-ups alike, so it’s a breeze to find an outfit that we’re both happy with, for the most colorful holiday of the year!
Finally, what’s Easter without some beautiful Easter baskets for the kids? Tuck them at the base of the stairs, or at the entrance to the kitchen, so the kids can run from their bedrooms in the morning and discover them on their way to breakfast. Hearing the pitter patter of tiny feet as the kids run to open their Easter treats with shrieks of joy… is definitely the best way to welcome spring into your home!
Happy Easter from my family to yours!
