Summer house. There’s something so special about those two words together. Something that conveys images of children running down sandy paths all the way to the beach. Strawberry rhubarb pies baking in the oven. A collection of pastel bicycles along the side of the house. An old tree with low branches, perfect for climbing.
Childhood memories are made in the summer. Martha’s Vineyard, Watch Hill, Southampton or Northeast Harbor all bear witness to the same carefree summer days. I love the architecture of those northeastern shingled homes. As we rebuild our summer home, here are some of the pictures that have inspired me.
