ZEN AND THE CITY

New website coming soon!

40 & a baby!

Two big things are happening in my life right now: I’m turning 40 next month, and I just found out that I’m pregnant with our 3rd child! It’s obviously huge news, and my husband and I are overjoyed to welcome a new member into our family.

The baby is due right before the holidays. Our daughter will be 9 years old and our son will┬ábe 6, when the baby is born. It’s a big gap between #2 and #3, but the kids are excited to have a new baby sibling!

From a health standpoint, I want to make sure that this pregnancy goes as well as it possibly could! I was just about 10 years younger when I carried my daughter, but I now know so much more about nutrition, exercise, pregnancy, motherhood, and all the resources that are available to families in the city… that I think this pregnancy might actually end up being easier than my first two!

The first thing I’m going to try to do is be diligent about exercising daily during the full 9 months. I was plagued by unbearable nausea when I’ve been pregnant in the past, and so the first trimester was pretty much a wash-out in terms of getting out of the house and hitting the gym. This time around, I’m going to do everything I can to work out every weekday. I actually believe that daily exercise might have something to do with keeping the nausea at bay, so stay tuned to see what happens.

The other thing I’m planning to do is going to sound so silly – but so what! This time around, I’m going to shop, shop, shop during my pregnancy! The last two times, I was a bit cautious about purchasing too many things that I knew I wouldn’t be able to wear more than one season (or one month?!)… and what ended up happening is that I lived in black maternity leggings and shapeless gray sweaters. Let me tell you, that does not do anything for the soul! This time around, I’m going to lift up my mood by embracing every trimester; the plan is to have fun with clothes, colors, accessories, etc!

Let the fun begin! Our due date is right before Thanksgiving 2018.
